Whether it’s a scenic elopement in the heart of the Vegas Strip or in a low key, rustic, scenic choice, this article presents 17 Las Vegas elopement venues you are sure to love and may consider for your elopement in Vegas.

If your thoughts have been blowing around having your elopement in Vegas on the iconic Vegas Strip, we recommend a couple of gems that will appeal to your modern adventurous nature, with some choices providing affordable and fun options for Las Vegas elopements.

Neon Museum Elopements

#1 Neon Museum

The Neon Museum is one of the most iconic venues for elopement in Vegas where you may have both a vintage Vegas photo shoot and a nostalgic ceremony amongst the most memorable and cherished Las Vegas signs ever to grace the city skyline. It has over 1500 vintage neon signs from around the world that are displayed to inspire visitors. From London’s Covent Garden sign, which reads ” consumes coffee”, or an angel with long golden wings holding a glass of champagne – you’ll find it all here! Couples cherish the artistic, vintage Vegas keepsake photos of their experience due to the myriad of backdrops they get.

Just to give you fair warning, if you are planning an elopement in Vegas be sure to plan over a year in advance as this this is one of the Las Vegas elopement venues that is booked up a year in advance. It is often easier to find space for a half hour photo shoot than it is to have the ceremony in the museum and a lot cheaper as well.  Our packages may be customized to meet your needs however since it is quite expensive to get married inside the Neon Museum, we have created a package to accommodate eloping outside the Neon Museum and then following up the ceremony with a 1/2 hour photo shoot inside the museum.

We have found it is much easier and less expensive on the purse strings to pare an elopement with a photo shoot at the museum.  With photo sessions, you have the option to use the North Gallery, or the main gallery and costs vary a great deal between the two choices. If you want to have the ceremony inside the Neon Museum, please contact us for customized planning services.  In any situation we need to request availability with the museum before booking your event.

Staying in Budget

A smaller budget for a scenic Vegas elopement is not a deal breaker.  Even if couples don’t have a lot of dough to spend they still can have a great experience. The plus side of having a smaller elopement is not having to deal with as many decisions.  You can have a simple elopement and many couples prefer to do that rather than have the stress of having a Larger and more elaborate experience. Larger elopements require more planning and because of all the choices available and extra decisions that need to be made such as décor choices, extra photography and embellishments, the price tag of a larger event adds up. The smaller price tag verses a more affordable one may be a preferable and stress free choice.

9 Mistakes to Avoid if You Plan to Elope in Vegas

9 Mistakes to Avoid if You Plan to elope in Vegas

Say yes to the idea of an elopement in Vegas!  Many people underestimate simplicity and tie themselves with all sorts expectations. But if you’re familiar with what I’m saying, then maybe this will sound like a good option for your big day instead-especially since it’s less expensive than most weddings (and can be done quicker).

Tying the knot is usually more work than just saying yes.  It typically involves a lot of family and friends, faces familiar or less so; it can be overwhelming to elope in Vegas for your big event when you don’t know what will make everything go smoothly on such an important day!

But if you’re feeling overwhelmed with all these expectations– consider some popular Vegas elopement venue locations for some relief from the tradition-driven weddings (and expensive ceremony costs). These ideas are great for letting two people who love each other have their own small celebration without any fuss at all.

hair and makeup

1st Mistake: Not leaving enough time for hair and makeup.

Having a Vegas wedding doesn’t mean you get to forget about stress altogether. Planning the logistics of location, the transportation, and the coordination, all follow a strict schedule. The groom might allow himself a laid-back attitude before the wedding, but in our experience, the bride needs to allow a lot more time to have the make-up session, especially if her bridal party is also receiving services.

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, with so many details to consider. But one aspect that should not be overlooked is the hair and make-up services. As a general rule, it will take approximately two hours to have these services rendered. In Las Vegas, the makeup artists will come to you and provide services in your hotel room. So, remember to schedule your glam team at least two hours prior to the ceremony per person receiving services. This will ensure that there is enough time for hair and make-up to be done properly, without rushing or feeling stressed. It’s an opportunity to truly enjoy the preparation process and savor every moment leading up to saying “I do.” This way, you can ensure that everyone has enough time to get ready and look their best for the big day.

As the minutes tick by, you start to relax and enjoy the process, knowing that you are in capable hands. Having your hair and make-up done is not just about looking good, it’s also about taking some time for yourself amidst the chaos of wedding planning to be pampered. As the hairstylist brushes through your hair and the make-up artist applies the final touches, you can’t help but feel a sense of calm wash over you. The stress of the wedding melts away as you focus on the present moment and indulge in a little self-care. And let’s not forget about the mimosa! As you sit in the salon chair, sipping on a refreshing mimosa, you can’t help but feel a sense of celebration.

This is your special day, after all, and what better way to kick it off than with a delicious drink in hand? The combination of the pampering, relaxation, and bubbly beverage creates an atmosphere of joy and anticipation. You can’t help but smile as you envision walking down the aisle, looking and feeling your absolute best. Sit back, relax, and let your glam team work their magic while you sip on a mimosa and embrace the excitement of your wedding day.

Just remember, no matter how simple you prefer your wedding, hair and makeup services will always require extra time and often more time that you planned.  If you need more advice on how much estimated time,  you are well-advised to ask your wedding planner.

wedding memories

2nd Mistake: Not capturing your memories in photos.

There are so many ideas to Elope in Vegas but when you arrive to the decision to have or not have a photographer it’s best to pause and think it through carefully. This is a very important day. It’s one of those highlights of your life. When you look back on your wedding day you might regret it if you don’t capture your wedding day memories. Having a Vegas wedding photographer can go a long way for many reasons.

  • First of all, if you are having an elopement, it will just be the two of you but in Nevada a witness is required.  The photographer will step in and be the witness for your legalities.
  • Secondly, it may be a mistake that you may regret to not have photos as a keepsake of your experience.  Think about it, choosing to have a photographer will give you amazing pictures to share with family and friends. And even better, you may choose some special photos to hang on your wall at home so you can remember your event often as you walk around your house.  You may even decide to go upscale and hire a videographer to make the experience even more cherished and capture it live for posterity.

Be sure your photographer has a camera that will make a backup of the photos they are taking however. Mistakes can happen and photos can get lost by camera malfunctions. If the photographer is a professional, they will have cameras that provide that function.

The ceremony itself is the focus of the entire event and capturing poses of the exchange of rings, vows and special moments is essential.  Once again, this is where the photographer will shine in capturing the special moments for you; but be sure to hire a professional photographer to record those special moments in time with the regrets of having sub-par photos. Excellent photographers will be able to provide creative shots that family members most likely will not be able to duplicate.  You will have memories etched in time to remember.

3rd Mistake: Not considering the first look.

elope in vegas

The first look is a tradition where the bride and groom see each other for the first time before a wedding takes place. In these modern times it’s sometimes done privately and many couples choose to have it done in their wedding suite or in a photo session before the elopement takes place.  The first look is the moment when the groom first sees his bride on the day of the wedding. It most often takes place during the processional when the bride walks down the aisle. It can also take place separately and privately, before the wedding, such at the photo shoot session before the official event takes place.

This is a precious moment and you only have the opportunity once. Having the first look occur when the bride walks down the aisle can prove to be tricky though.  It will require great timing and logistical planning to make sure the guests and the groom don’t see the bride at all before the ceremony.

It would be a mistake for the bride to not have separate transportation to the wedding location. It would also be a mistake to not have another additional coordinator or personal friend be on point as an assistant to time the correct arrival of the bride so the groom will not accidentally see the bride prior to walking down the aisle.

For the first look, the bride needs to be seen by the groom at an appropriate time so the expression of the both the bride and groom can be captured as they see each other for the first time on their wedding day.

Grooms get excited to see their beautiful brides dressed up to the nines and have been often known to be a bit cheeky and try to take a peak too early.  They need to be reminded to look away, otherwise they can mistakenly look too soon and ruin the moment.

4th Mistake: Not being prepared for formalities.

elopement las vegas

A Vegas wedding, by law, requires you to obtain a wedding license before the wedding takes place. The wedding license is easy to obtain in Las Vegas, even to non-residents of the US, but you’ll still have to provide proof of identification. Birth certificates are not mandatory, and any type of official government photo ID will suffice. But there are also specific details you want to know about that are different in Las Vegas than other U.S. states and countries. Be prepared by looking ahead and making the necessary arrangements.

Find out how to get a Las Vegas marriage license to help you prepare for getting married in Vegas.

Remember, also, that holidays are a peak time when it’s harder to find, schedule, and carry out a Vegas wedding. Note, no one else can get the marriage license for you.  Only the bride and groom are allowed to obtain the license, in person. Popular days to avoid going to the license bureau are the major holidays, Valentines day, 4th of July, New Years Eve, for example.  It’s also best to have a look at the major conventions in Las Vegas to avoid bad traffic jams and high hotel room rates. These factors sometimes will effect your experience in obtaining a license because people will decide to get married while in Vegas during conventions.

It’s advisable to visit the Clark county website before you arrive in Vegas and fill out an online pre-application for your Vegas marriage license up to 3 months in advance of your event.

It’s also important to be prepared for seasonal weather fluctuations.  Not knowing specifics about what you will face with the weather could put a huge damper on your event.  For instance, when the weather changes from the cold season (which doesn’t last long) to the hotter weather in July and August, when we extreme heat conditions.

5th Mistake: Scheduling the celebration dinner too soon.

elope to vegas

Though not exactly busy like New York or Los Angeles, traveling through the city of Vegas still takes longer than expected to travel from location to location. Getting from the wedding location to the wedding reception can easily become super stressful if you forget to schedule the celebration and leave enough time to account for traffic congestion and other unplanned incidents.

This is where a wedding planner will be invaluable asset to you because they create an itinerary for you to keep your event on track. When you are eloping, almost anything can happen and often the unexpected does happen which may circumvent a well-planned itinerary. In these circumstances, last-minute revisions will need to be made.

One problem I have experienced happening at events is delays with the limousine. Many mistakes with timing can and do happen.  Two common mistakes that may delay the accurate timing are not planning out the ride well beforehand and calculating the amount of time needed for the elopement event, including travel time.  Las Vegas now has a tremendous amount of construction projects in effect and they are causing significant delays. These delays need to be factored in when planning is done and the planning needs to take place ahead of time.  If you are brave enough to plan it yourself, it’s best to leave enough room in your schedule to account for common challenges and keep your celebration timeline on track. It is well worth your time and money to reduce the stress of the occasion.  There are many excellent reasons to hire a Las Vegas elopement planner to plan your wedding in Vegas ahead of time.

6th Mistake: Not taking advantage of hotel concierge services.

Las Vegas bride at concierge

A helping hand can easily turn what seems to be Herculean effort into a solution only one phone call away. Note that prices can vary greatly depending on which hotel you are staying, but even the small services a hotel concierge provides for free can be a lifesaver. Some of the planning assistance they may offer, depending on the hotel are some of the essential referrals you may need such as dress and tux, salon and spa services. Also, use the valuable services of a concierge to help you when setting up reminders for appointments.

As you get closer to your event the stress usually becomes higher in intensity. Then it may be harder to remain as calm and coordinated as you would like to be. You may always ask the concierge service to help you with reminders and notify you about important deliveries.  We at Custom Las Vegas Weddings also offer an all-in-one day of planning service to our couples.  So whether you go with the concierge at your hotel or decide to avail yourselves of an all-in-one solution like ours, it is a service you might not want to overlook.

7th Mistake: Not having enough limousine time.

elopement packages vegas

With traffic being such a frustration, you’ll need more time to travel from one point to another. More than likely you won’t know the city dynamics, therefore you would be wise to leave the planning to a professional Las Vegas wedding planning company to make a day of timeline.  A professional will be able to estimate more accurately how much time you will need for the limousine. There are a lot of details to take in to consideration when planning the transportation schedule, even for something as simple as an elopement event. Here are some of the mistakes that may take place:

  • Not calculating how much time the event will take.
  • Not doing a proper estimation for travel time to and from the event.
  • Not taking in to consideration traffic construction delays.

To avoid the pitfalls of being late to the wedding, restaurant reservations, or shows it is imperative proper planning takes place well before the event.  It’s most important your experience is more about having fun and enjoying the experience of the ceremony before continuing with your special evening. Your wedding memories should be treasured without blemish.

8th Mistake: Partying too much and not getting enough sleep.

elopement las vegas

A wedding day, complex or less so would still require lots of energy. And the magic of Vegas and the partying or gambling it offers is more alluring than any other when it comes to keeping you awake. Nothing can zap your energy more than these top three things:

  • Drinking too much:  Save the drinking for the night of or the night after the wedding.
  • Not getting enough sleep: Get the needed amount of sleep the night before the wedding and be clear the day of.
  • Not drinking enough water: Whenever you travel, you need to keep hydrated. Any travel and climate change will require more water intake.

Be careful not to over-drink though. It is easy to forget about limits altogether when you are driving through Vegas, at night, experiencing the hidden rhythm with all of those lights shining. If you do happen to drink too much, however here is a great hangover resource to recover from your Vegas hangover if you don’t manage to avoid the partying and need to recover quickly.

If you want a memorable and enjoyable wedding day, take this advice – you must pay heed to these cautions. No matter what! There is always time for late-night partying after the wedding.

9th Mistake: Not having a planner help you coordinate your wedding day.

If you are in Vegas for the first time, try to make the calculations upfront, and see whether or not you’ll fare better with a Vegas wedding planner. elope in Vegas

If you are in Vegas for the first time, try to make the calculations upfront, and see whether or not you’ll fare better with a Vegas wedding planner. A Vegas elopement planner will handle the wedding day itinerary and coordination meticulously, down to detail, and even pass you discounts for coordinating vendors. They also have a lot of valuable local knowledge about all of the good and bad side of Vegas. The city is constantly changing and we are known as one of the largest “scam cities” in the world. Unfortunately, that title comes with most major tourism sites. Hiring a Vegas elopement planner is like taking the hand of a friend who has lived through it all.

Your planner will give you invaluable advice to steer away from the dark side of the city and into those dazzling lights that you really came to see! For example, beware of texts or phone calls following your ceremony from the “Marriage License Bureau” requesting that you send them additional money to validate your marriage license for an additional cost! This is a recent scam that has plagued a few traveling couples. Having a planner as your ally will help in saving you money in the long run even in ways you could never think of, making your experience eloping in Vegas stress free.

Choosing a Color Palette That Works with Your Wedding Style

Playing with color swatches can be tempting; however when considering wedding décor ideas, it is important not to overcrowd the scene. Create a color theme by selecting one main color and then degrading the palette with hues and shades of the same color.

A bride can draw inspiration from her diamond engagement ring. For instance, cooler tones such as blues, grays, and silvers may be more suitable if the ring has a white gold or platinum band. These colors create a cohesive and elegant look that will tie all the décor elements together.

On the other hand, warmer palettes complement rings with yellow diamonds. If your engagement ring features a yellow diamond, you may want to consider incorporating warmer colors into your color palette. Think of colors like gold, peach, and blush, which can complement the yellow hues in the diamond.

Tips for Choosing the Right Budget-Friendly Destination Wedding Décor

The best part about planning the wedding décor for a desert elopement wedding is the nature-inspired elements that allow plenty of opportunities to enjoy having a simple affair that still has a style of class you want without breaking the bank.  Couples can use natural greenery such as succulents as columns and dress the sides with artificial sunflowers and handwoven baskets.

  • Brides can use artificial bridal bouquets, which can be later used to accessorize their hair after tying the knot. But many brides do prefer to have a real flower bouquet and opt to use artificial flowers only for the desert décor.
  • For a desert elopement, a traditional aisle runner may not be the best option. Achieving a unique look for your space can be achieved by adding rugs to the décor.  We oversee renting a small 5 x 7 carpet to place at the desert alter.
  • For a romantic desert elopement, a variety of wicker baskets to compliment the space showcasing dried pampas grass, and palm fronds to add more texture, other dried elements may be added with your choice of artificial roses.
  • Couples can play around with décor and use shades of earth tones when deciding on color pallets for the décor, using greens and browns of the desert for inspiration.
  • Using Pinterest and Google search for wedding décor ideas is a great place to start looking for ideas that gravitate toward your style and taste.
  • Adding in additional décor elements such as a variety of lanterns with electric candles adds a special touch to the atmosphere created.

How involved are you in the day of wedding experience?

You can count on us to help you plan your wedding day. From the time of booking, we are reaching out and guiding every step until it’s all over; if need be for an extra set or flower arrangements because let’s face it- nothing looks worse than having empty spaces where flowers should go! A few days before -in case anyone has any last minute questions-, then just one final touch beforehand means everything towards making sure everything goes smoothly during such special times together as marriage proposals begin with “I Do”

How far in advance do couples need to reserve services with you?

Our clients should give at least a months’ notice when they want to reserve one of our venues. More advance notice will secure better results and if you plan on waiting until 3 weeks before the wedding day, it may not be as likely for that venue availability since most people request services within this time frame. You needn’t worry about making full payment right away though because all costs are finalized 3 weeks prior!

Do you handle all the contracts and payment processing for clients eloping in Vegas?

A quote and contract is drawn up for for our clients to view, approve and sign. The quotes are itemized for clients. Some Vegas wedding venues require the clients sign the contract directly with the venue but we do facilitate sending the documents and helping keep track of signing and payment to the venues on behalf of the client. We also correspond with vendors for our clients, facilitate and oversee all the pertinent permits needed and pay the vendors on behalf of our clients.

Do you handle rentals for clients?

We schedule and set up the vendor rentals for each event. This includes the scheduling, correspondence with the vendors for scheduling the rentals, delivery, arrival and set up, and breakdown of rentals. A good example would be for props to be used for custom photo events, floral items, decorations such as chairs, floral, musicians, etc.

Red Rock Canyon Wedding

What is the deposit for booking a wedding?

All venues and vendors require a different deposit. Deposit terms will be specified in the venue contract the client will sign. We collect all the data and ensure the correct deposits are paid for by the client to reserve the venue and vendor services they want. Initially, we collect a wedding planning deposit which is a retainer for services.  The deposit amount will be determined by the services procured.

When is the final payment due?

The final payment is due 4 weeks prior to the event. If the client initiates services within the 4-week timeframe of the event, the full amount is due then.

Do you help the clients pay the vendors?

Yes, we handle the planning and payment on behalf of the client for the vendors. The more services the client receives, the more itemized the invoice will be and the client will be able to see the charges for each service received.

Are there additional fees clients should know about?

Because we have the client agree to a quote, they will have all the charges up front when they sign the contract. The only time there would be any additional charges would be if the client requests more a la carte services after the quote has been signed. In this case I will revise the invoice and the client will see the charges and agree to them at that time.

What happens if the customer needs to change the date of the event?

As the elopement event planner, we will step in and advocate for the client to re-arranged the services and change the date or time. I just ask the clients to try to give me at least 3 weeks’ notice, if possible. I have often done this for clients and it’s dependent on many factors, not the least of which is whether the date is available with all the vendors and venue as well as my own schedule. This might happen if the couple has to postpone or change the event date.

Is the deposit or final payment refundable?

The planning fees are not refundable as it is considered a planning retainer for the event. The initial planning deposit is taken as a retainer to pay for wedding planning services that are rendered before the wedding takes place. Planning for an event requires behind the scenes office work, outreach to vendors, scheduling the venue, helping the client sign contracts, taking payments, email correspondence, creating the itinerary and much more. The planning is done prior to the 3-week timeline before the wedding day. For this reason we do not refund the planning fee to clients.

The final payment for the event and venue is typically due within the 3-week timeframe prior to the wedding. At that time, if  the final payment has been made, it becomes non-refundable. If the wedding needs to be rescheduled, in most cases the venues will work with the clients.  Each venue differs in their credit and refund policies. It is best to clarify these details from the venue before you book to know what to expect if there is a disaster beyond your control.

6. The
advantage of informality:  One of the greatest things about eloping in Las Vegas is your dress and wedding attire don’t have to be traditional or formal. Wear something unique and weather appropriate for the Las Vegas desert setting. A lot of wedding couples keep their elopement attire simple and opt for a simple vest or dress shirt and semi-formal dress.  There is an assortment of dress options when you elope but none of them are required or expected. That is the beauty of eloping. If you end up needing some clothing assistance, there are many dress, tux and gown shops that provide last minute services.  They will provide mobile, last minute services such as picking up your clothes and steaming them or providing the attire completely.  This makes your decision a breeze and you don’t have to stress about finding the right outfit or not having choices if you forget to bring something along.

7. A simple Vegas wedding saves money

eloping in Las vegas

The allure of choosing to elope in Vegas is the expense savings you reap the benefits of.  There are many things you won’t have to contend with when you decide to elope. You will incur less expense if you elope in Vegas than if you decide to have a large formal affair. Below you will see some comparisons of each option. You will still have some expenses if you elope but less of them.

Expenses you will avoid if you elope:

  • Pre-wedding dinners and parties (bachelorette and bachelor parties).
  • A large reception with DJ:  Reception venues typically cost $2000 or more for 4 hours.
  • Food for all your guests:  Food per person on the Vegas Strip starts at about $70-$100 per person unless it’s a buffet and buffets have disadvantages at times.
  • Alcohol expense:  Alcohol is a huge expense if you have an open bar.  The more people you have the more expensive it will get for your budget.
  • Decorations: The flowers, lights, dance floor and staff to accommodate setup and breakdown can be high dollar items in the end.
  • Transportation for guests:  Your guests need to get there and back. If it’s a large party of people (30-50) bus transportation is in the $550 range just for 3 hours.
  • Receptions take 4 or more hours and cost on average $5-$10,000.  Most receptions last around 4 hours.
  • Entertainment:  Typically, it’s a DJ although other entertainment can cost a pretty penny.

8. Saving on venue costs:

Venue costs will be much less expensive if you elope in Vegas. The cost of eloping in Las Vegas and choosing a simple venue is cheap compared to the cost of using a venue for a large group of guests. Las Vegas wedding venues typically cost $2000 and upward to several thousands of dollars to rent for a large event.

Las Vegas elopement
Renting a reception venue for a full blown form affair costs more because the duration of the event usually lasts 4 to 5 hours. The choice to elope means your venue will not be needed as long. The time spent at the venue for an elopement is usually one to two hours at the most but usually no more than an hour.  Even if you have a unique elopement experience in Las Vegas, it will still be much cheaper than a full blown formal wedding.  There are many great elopement venue choices in Las Vegas and they are much cheaper to use.  You may also use the venues in creative ways that won’t break the bank.

For instance, a Nelson Ghost Town elopement is a fun experience and the venue for up to 10 people costs only $100 to rent the venue for an elopement. There are quite a lot of great options to choose for eloping in Vegas with fun venues that will fit your budget.

9. Saving on vendor expenses:
Oftentimes your best deal when thinking of a Vegas Elopement, one often thinks of keeping it simple.

Hiring vendors as a DIY project is time-consuming and gets expensive. Hiring a planner that offers all in one service will make the overall experience more relaxing, enjoyable, and memorable for the right reasons.

If you choose an all inclusive Las Vegas elopement package, your planning will be stress free and you’ll reap the benefits of the savings you desire.

10. Not putting people out:  Some couples feel they don’t want the fuss of a wedding registry or feeling like they are making others obligated to give gifts.  Some people just don’t want to put other people out and ask for gifts. Nonetheless, it is customary for a bride and groom to give one another a small gift.

11. Red Rock Wedding

For instance, when you have a small wedding for two people your choices for creative, fun and unique wedding experiences open up. You may choose to have adventurous or scenic wedding like a Las Vegas desert elopement

If you want to make your experience especially unique customize your ceremony or pick a special location that means a lot to you and your beloved. Las Vegas elopement:  When people think of getting married in Vegas, they typically think of having their wedding on the Vegas Strip with all the excitement and pizzazz.  What researching couples don’t realize until they put effort into the search is, a Vegas Strip wedding costs a pretty penny, even if you go to a chapel.  For that reason, many couples opt for a unique Vegas elopement and choose to have their wedding in a suite or resort setting.  If this option sounds appealing

9 Mistakes to Avoid if You Plan to Elope in Vegas

7 Reasons to Hire a Las Vegas Elopement Planner

Wondering if you should hire a Las Vegas elopement planner?

Here are 7 reasons to consider hiring one to support you on your wedding day.

At Custom Las Vegas Weddings, we love planning Vegas Elopements for clients who want to celebrate their special day without any distraction from others. Clients who choose to break tradition to create something uniquely theirs to honor their relationship. Couple who understands that their wedding shouldn’t be a big event just because they’re married.

Eloping isn’t always easy – there are still lots of things to consider and plan for. However, if you’re looking for a stress free way to get married, then you don’t need to go through the hassle of navigating it yourself. We want to help you out by offering the services you need for your special day.

I think there are a number of common misunderstandings about elopments, and I’d like to clear them up! First off, most people assume that if they’re having an eloping, they can’t include any of the usual wedding elements. They think they have to do a quick ceremony and a couple of pictures, and that’s it. That’s just not the case at all! In reality, elopments are much more elaborate than that.

The beauty of eloping is that it can be whatever you want it to be. There are absolutely no rules, standards, nor any expectation. While an elopment is very different from a larger, larger event, there is still absolutely an requirement for a planner!

Eloping can be just the two or include close family and friend. Usually the total guest count will not exceed 12 guests and still be considered an elopement. Some couples choose to do a first look, photos, custom decor, first dance, cake – all the fun stuff. And this requires a great deal of thought and planning!

Even planning something as simple as a Vegas elopement comes with many questions. Some questions are easier than others — from what will your theme be to what dress will you wear? Some questions you won’t know to ask until you stumble into it, sometimes hours before your wedding — like timing vendor arrival.

Save money using an elopement planner: Much of any wedding cost goes right to the venue but with elopements you won’t have the huge price tag associated with elopement venues in Las Vegas unless you have an upscale event will all the bells and whistles.

How planning a Vegas Wedding Budget Checklist Can Keep You From Losing in Vegas

According to this Forbes article, wedding venues cost an average of $14,006. Unsurprisingly, a poll recently found that 91 percent of couples regret spending too much, so it pays you to consider eloping to Las Vegas instead of dealing with the cost of a full blown expensive venue and wedding.

Couples often assume that hiring a wedding planner means flushing your wedding budget down the drain but it’s not true when you analyse how a planner saves you money in the long run. An experienced Vegas elopement planner has an established vendor network and can meet the needs of your budget restrictions when involvoed, even with a downsized elopement.

Rather than wasting gas and time and settling on a vendor to “just be done with a decision”, invest in an elopement planning adviser. In the end you will save more money by having someone help you than not.  You may then put that money toward your honeymoon or life goals as a couple. A planner will not only help you determine what budget you need but will help you stay within your budget. Who doesn’t like saving money?

What does a Las Vegas Elopement Planner do?

Planning an elopement doesn’t require much thought, but if you’re thinking about having an arch,  rentals, and more customized touches, then you’ll probably find yourself needing to do a little more planning. You may not realize how much work goes into planning an elopement until you actually start doing it.

Since most elopements involve just the bride and groom and a few friends or family members, the focus may be on you as the couple and this is one of the reasons couples decide to elope. They may spend their planning time away from a lot of external distractions.

Primarly, a Vegas Elopement planner will manage the entire event from start to finish and take the stress out of planning the details, such as scheduling experienced vendors from their personal networks. This could be any vendor from the photographer to an official for your wedding.

It is important to understand the most significant aspects of their elopment before speaking to a wedding elopement organizer. These include what their budget is or how many guests should come to the elopment. Planners do not have to learn every little detail, but the basic data will be needed to assist the organizer to understand your vision. The greater your needs are comprehended correctly, the simpler the arranging will be.

Here is a list of standard services Las Vegas elopement planners provide:

  • Organize entire event
  • Schedule all vendors
  • Conflict resolution
  • Coordination
  • Plan Itinerary
  • Plan decor
  • Guidance

Here is the inherent value and duties a Las Vegas Elopement planner will attend to that you  may not have considered.  Perhaps you will see the benfit of the services and decide you dont’ want to go in alone and plan your elopement alone.

1. Organizing entire event

An excellent elopement planner should know how to create a detailed timeline. When having a simple wedding for two or even when only a handful of guests present,  the duties of a wedding planner are not quite as entailed a planning a large wedding event.

Nonetheless, the planner should create a basic timeline for their clients and hand it out to the vendors, such as the photographer, coordinator, and all the vendors involved. The vendors should approve the timeline to ensure everyone is in sync.

Planners are one of the most important elements of an elopement. They take charge of everything, from the small details like reminding about bringing the licensing and rings along, which can be a big issue, if someone forgets them, to the big ones, like making sure the chauffer gets to the correct location.

A professional organizer helps you organize everything for your big day. They vet the vendors and stay in control of events for your big day, lifting the burden of stress off your shoulders so you and your fiance enjoy yourselves.

2. Scheduling Vendors

The wedding planner will act as an intermediary between the couple and all the various service providers involved in the wedding. They make sure that everything runs smoothly so that the couple can relax and enjoy themselves without worrying about details.

It can be difficult to let the dream go when you’ve spend years imagining what your wedding would be like. Obsessing over every little detail is natural, but it can also hold you back — filling your day with endless imagined disasters. On your big day, you deserve to tune out the stressful stuff and focus on your big moment.

A Las Vegas elopement planner will know the local market well and be able to call upon the most reputable list of professional wedding vendors.  Here is a list of vendors you may need for your elopement.

    • Transportation companies
    • Floral and decor vendors
    • Photographer and videographer
    • Hair, makeup, tux and gown
    • Venue options
    • Officiant
    • Coordinators
    • Licensing

Finding the right vendor for each job is intrinsic to making your dream Las Vegas wedding come true. Connecting you with the most reputable vendors such as florists and hair and make up vendors are all important elements that come down to having the right connections.

3. Conflict resolution

You can almost always count on having unexpected issues leading up to and on your wedding day. For instance, some remote locations such as having a wedding outdoors at Red Rock canyon will provide some challenges couples will not be prepared for such as weather fluctuationsand having no cell phone service. A local planner will know how to make sure the guests get to the right location without getting lost and oversee the limousine vendor to make sure they also get to the right location.

Another issue that has actually happened in our experience has been a hotel malfunction, leaving our customers tux and gown soaked in water after the hotel sprinklers go off and drown your attire in water.  In this case a planner will reach out to the tux and gown vendor and arrange a last minute solution for your attire and help with the delays you experience.

Sometimes, in Vegas, we run in to bad weather conditions for outdoor events and it’s good to have a planner on your side when this happens. They will guide you to know what to wear and how to navigate the situation to be safe, dry and warm in inclement weather conditions.

A planner is “on point” in each of these little situations. An excellent Vegas elopement planner will guide you through these unexpected issues and help resolved them discreetly.

4. Day of elopement coordination

Day of Coordination Planner

Day of coordination essentially means organizing and ensuring everything goes as planned for the wedding day. Their job also involves helping couples overcome any last minute challenges or problems that may arise.

A wedding ceremony is an official event: there are cues to follow, people to manage, maybe special vows to share, songs to play, and so on. Without someone to organize everything, your event may be disorganized and disjointed. And if you’re worried about the wrong song playing when you walk down the aisle, the elopement planner has that covered too.

Here is a smalll list of the duties a day of elopement coordinator will do:

  • Checking on the marriage license and rings to ensure they are with you when you leave the hotel
  • Ensuring the limo driver knows where they are going and helping you connect with them properly
  • Confirming your guests and VIP’s make it the correct location and are present for the wedding
  • Overseeing the decor setup is done properly, including breakdown timing
  • Meeting, confirming and overseeing the vendor payments, set up, etc.
  • Running a ceremony walk through and overseeing music or musician timing
  • Oversee flower pinning and bouquet, boutonniere distribution
  • Having emergency supplies and other needed elements on hand
  • Making sure the event ends on time and all is in order

There are a lot more duties a day of coordinator ends up doing but this is just a fragment of the support they provide.

5. Planning itinerary

You may prefer to take care of specific details yourself but when it comes to scheduling the itinerary you often lose out when choosing a chapel, for instance.  Chapels don’t typically plan an itinerary for your event from the time you are planned to be picked up from the hotel to when you return.  They have limitations.

A planner, on the other hand, will help you plan the details surrounding your event and be able to not only pair you with the right transportation company and cater to the periphery needs you may have, such as arranging the final drop off point to a hotel or arranging extra services after the ceremony such as a photo tour.

The itinerary will cover when you are picked up, how long you will be at the venue and intriquate details until you reach the final destination when it’s all complete.

6. Customizing decor

It’s not a requirement to have custom decor but some couples want that.  It’s great to have something unique and special for your ceremony backdrop.  A planner will help you envision this and organize it to make it happen for you.

Wedding planners know local florists and have worked with them extensively. They will bring you cost savings with respect to setting up chairs or arches, decor and flowers and will help give the needed directions you need.  Then they will send you the estimate and pull it all together for you so that it is transported, set up and torn down in the most organized, timely fashion for your event.

When decor is customized for you, the planner will create a mood board to showcase your colors, photos of the flowers and give you an overview of what to expect.

7. Guidance

10 Essentials to Prepare for Your Desert Wedding in Vegas

If you are having a desert wedding in Vegas, here are preparation tips to avoid problems

Desert wedding in vegas

For couples who want to manage a limited number of guests but still keep their weddings in style, Las Vegas desert elopements provide the perfect and popular option to tie the knot for destination couples traveling to Vegas. This article outlines some essential things to bring and get reminded of to have your perfect desert wedding elopement in Vegas.

1. Prepare for a jet lag

desert wedding advice

If you are flying from other countries, a desert wedding in Vegas can be exhausting. Being jet lagged can negatively impact your wedding.  It may ruin the moment you have been waiting for so long. You may not be able to avoid jet lag though.  People traveling from England or Australia for instance are awake more than 24 hours to travel here.  But one way to minimize the effects of jet-lag and recover more quickly is to bring melatonin supplements along and use them every day up until the wedding.  Take them at least an hour before falling to sleep and make sure you allow plenty of time to sleep them off to avoid that feeling of grogginess on your wedding day. Melatonin resets your body clock but it does take a couple days to do that.

2. Keep hydrated

stay hydrated for a desert wedding

When my clients visit Las Vegas they often travel from a distance or live in climates that are less extreme.  The climate in Vegas is very dry and if you are traveling here take this fact in to account and be sure to prepare to drink more water while you are here.  Take extra care on your wedding day to drink more water.  As a Las Vegas desert wedding planner I will make sure your limousine company supplies basic water but it’s a good idea to bring more to keep you from being dehydrated.  If you don’t have a limousine you need to take even more care to bring extra water along and a small cooler or bottle wrap to keep it cold and avoid having it turn out to be like tea water.

3. Bring sunscreen

get protecting for your wedding in the desert
Wear sunscreen to protect your skin from getting sunburned on your special day.  Sunscreen comes in so many great options now and can even be tinted or laced with glitter to give you the extra color and glow to your skin. You wouldn’t’ want to experience a sunburn on your honeymoon night. Being in the desert sun for more than 10 minutes can leave a mark that stings and may cause you hot flashes and discomfort for days.  Use a sunscreen factor of at least 30 to protect you and bring it along in your bag of essentials to apply it again if needed. You may also opt to bring a moisturizer to keep that glow on your skin.

4. Consider using umbrellas

red rock canyon desert wedding

Umbrellas are surprisingly a great protection from the hot desert sun. It’s like having instant shade, which is a commodity in the desert, believe me!  I think my clients have underestimated how hot the sun is and how much like a blow dryer the wind can be in Las Vegas.  It’s scorching hot. When you live in a colder climate and have never experienced the Vegas desert heat, you may not realize how hot it really does get, so take my advice and be prepared. I have taken the care and effort to acquire 2 white umbrellas for the bride groom when I am their planner but you may caution your guests they might want to get an umbrella if they are attending your desert marriage ceremony and sitting or standing in the hot desert sun for any long period of time.

5. Bring extra comfortable shoes

desert wedding advice

Calculating distances between resorts is difficult in Vegas and is deceiving. Wearing comfortable shoes is highly suggested while you are visiting but when it comes to your special day it’s even more important to be prepared.  The desert is full of dusty sand that is very fine and works it’s way in to your shoes.  So when you are walking from the limousine to the place you are getting married in the desert, you will most likely get sand in your shoes. It’s a given. As a standard, most of the desert locations we have ceremonies are at least 20 feet or more and in some cases as much as a quarter of a mile away from the vehicle. You may also opt to walk up on the rocks like when you are getting married at Red Rock Canyon,  the Valley of Fire or the Grand Canyon or Nelson Ghost Town.  This also applies to getting married at Lake Mead or any location that is in a desert setting.  One way to avoid having tired feet but also keeping safe and not tripping over rocks or getting sand and pebbles in your high heel shoes is to bring along flat shoes that are easy to walk in. Once you are at your destination and have walked from point A to point B then  you can take your beautiful high heel shoes out of your carry bag and voila, you are all set and looking classy and clean.  Also, consider this tactic when you plan to have an celebration after the ceremony so you may dance during the reception and not suffer with uncomfortable shoes. So, to recap, comfortable shoes are certainly a must!

6. Bring hand wipes

desert wedding for two

This is an underestimated item to have in your bag of essentials for your occasion. Your hands will most likely also get sticky and dirty from the too much sweat your body. Also, while you are standing in the desert sun or hiking to the destination of your ceremony in the desert dirt and sand sticks to you. Make sure to clean them so you have nice dry and clean hands to hold the hand of your partner in style. It’s also handy to have the wipes to clean off the items you may bring that also will get dirty as you walk through the desert. Consider using it to wipe away and sweat or tears on your face as well or adjust any runny makeup, heaven forbid that will happen.  I think this item is an essential one to ensure you don’t get as dirty during your desert wedding in Vegas.

7. Bring lip balm

Too much heat or cold can get brutal in the desert. Don’t let your lips get dry during your wedding kiss! Consider getting lip balm that has tint in it to give you that shine on your lips that is more upscale than regular lip balm. There is even lip stick that has an SPF factor formulated in to it that will work just as well as lip balm.  This is one item you may need to bring for your partner.  More than likely your partner may forget to do this for themselves so do this as a gift to them to show you care. For brides, you may also want to bring more beauty kits, such as a concealer stick, water-resistant mascara for your tear-jerking wedding vows, and a makeup remover.

8. Multi-layer clothing

las vegas outdoor wedding venue

Vegas is a place where the desert heat can get as high as 120 degrees.  It’s not typically quite that hot unless you go to Death Valley but it certainly is common to get to 110-115 degrees. One element most people may not realize if they don’t live in the desert is you will be moving from the hot desert to the  air-conditioning units of your hotel or limousine frequently.  This also applies to the cold weather situations. The wind in Las Vegas sees the extremes of both hot and cold. With the temperature variance, you can be hot one moment and freezing the next.  One way to deal with this situation well is to be prepared and bring extra clothes and multi-layer. That way when you step from one climate condition to another you can adapt easily and be more comfortable.  You may see the natives of Las Vegas actually wearing long sleeves and wonder why.  It’s because wearing long sleeves makes them sweat and the water makes their skin cooler.  I’m not saying it’s good to sweat on the day of your event but it will help to add an extra layer of protection from the sun as well.

9. Bring sunglasses

las vegas desert elopement

The sun is always shining bright in a desert.  This is true whether it is summer or winter, although the sun is less severely bright in the winter and spring. Nonetheless, it’s a great idea to protect your eyes with a pair of sunglasses that have a good rating for sun protection. Sunglasses also make a remarkable wedding souvenir.  Of course Las Vegas is full of souvenir shops everywhere you look. So, you can get a classy pair or a cheesy pair of souvenir glasses to remember your experience.  Consider giving sunglasses as a wedding favor to your guests with your names on them so that your guests will get protected from the sun as well.

10. Bring snacks

red rock canyon desert wedding

Weddings in the desert may take a lot of your time. Because of this fact you may want to consider bringing along a simple and easy snack to ward off the hunger pains and give you more energy for your event. It also helps to keep your guests happy and more comfortable.  When thinking about what you will bring realize limousines may charge you if you make a mess.  Many limousine companies actually may charge as much as $250 or more in a security cleaning fee if you plan to bring snacks and eat them in the vehicle.  One way to avoid this is to bring along the snacks in a carry bag and distribute them to your guests outside the vehicle.  That way you won’t have to pay the security cleaning fee and everyone will be comfortable and not hungry.  By bring prepared and bringing simple snacks like plastic wrapped crackers or health bars, trail mix or something similar, your desert wedding in Vegas will be a more lively and enthusiastic event everyone will always remember they enjoyed.

Las Vegas is becoming today’s most chosen desert destination wedding experience.  Why wouldn’t it be? Couples have been getting married in almost the same venues and styles that have more expensive price tags. No wonder, a desert wedding as unique yet affordable as the outdoor desert wedding is capturing the attention of many couples right now.
